About the Kingdom of Dzogadze

The Kingdom of Dzogadze is a traditional Kingdom located in the South East Region of Ghana. Dzogadze is the home to a rich history. Dzogadze  is recognized as a traditional kingdom by the Republic of Ghana, as are many of the traditional sub-kingdoms of the land. As recognized by the 1992 Constitution of Ghana (chapter 270–277), like previous Constitutions, guarantees the institution of chieftaincy together with its traditional councils as established by customary law and usage. Chieftains (Monarchs) are also regulated by the Chieftaincy Act of 2008.

Brimshibrim Palace is the seat of traditional authority, governance and administration of Dzogadze, a predominantly farming community located in the southeastern part of the Republic of Ghana, headed by the Dufia of Dzogadze and the Brimshibrim of Greater Dzogadze Council of Chiefs, HRM Torgbui Gorni Treve IV.


The Kingdom started in the early 1700s with Togbe Akoto as the original and first occupant of the throne. HRM Torgbui Gorni Treve IV - a direct descendant of Akoto - is the 9th occupant of the throne in the dynasty of Dzogadze.
